Chicago IL: Counsel General of India, Chicago Dr. Ausuf Saeed is the first Hyderabadi diplomat appoints in United States of America as the Counsel General of India. On the auspicious occasion of the 67th Anniversary of the freedom Day of India invited Elite Group of people comprising of Govt. Officers, Air India, US and other countries Diplomats, Leading personalities of Indian Community of Chicago on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the premises of the Consulate general of Chicago at NBC Tower Building, 455. N. City front Plaza Drive, Chicago, IL, 606111. Indians in Chicago celebrated the country’s 67th Independence Day by Flag-Hoisting and Grand Reception.

A large number of people gathered at the Indian Consulate to join in the festivities as Consul General Dr. Ausuf Saeed unfurled the Tricolor amid cheers. This was followed by the singing of the Indian National Anthem. Then the Consul General read President Pranab Mukherjee message to the Indians all over the world. There were many dignitaries present like Rishikant, Manager Air India, Naren Patel of Med Star Lab. Shahid Razvi, General Secretary, Khaja K. Akif, Treasurer of Hyderabad Association, Chicago, IL, USA.

Later on the same day, Counsel General of India Dr. Ausaf Sayeed and Mrs. Farah Sayeed organized Reception at Chicago Cultural Centre, Preston Bradely Hall, 78 E. Washington Street, Chicago IL60602 Following is highlights of Mr. Saeed’s address.

On the happy and momentous occasion of the 67th Independence Day of the Republic of India, let me take the pleasure of extending my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indian nationals, Indian Americans, Persons of Indian Origin and all Friends of India in the Midwest Region of United States of America.

I would like to acknowledge the gracious presence of Hon’ble Dan Rutherford, Illinois State Treasurer, Hon’ble Dorothy Brown, Clerk, Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois and our Special Guest Dr. Richard Lariviere, President, The Field Museum of Chicago. I understand that Congressman Hon’ble Bill Foster would also join the celebrations soon. We are indeed greatly honored by your presence this evening. We also have amidst us representatives from the offices of Governor of Illinois Hon’ble Pat Quinn, Mayor of Chicago Hon’ble Rahm Emanuel and the Attorney General of Illinois Hon’ble Lisa Madigan, who would convey the greetings on behalf of these high dignitaries.

Chicago IL: Honorable Consul General Ausaf Sayeed celebrated India's 65th Republic Day On Sunday, January 26, 2012 with leading Chicago-land entrepreneurs and citizens to honor the sacrifices our freedom fighters have made and to remember the work of our Founding Fathers, for giving to us a country where our dignity and individual freedom is assured. He also extended his warmest greetings to all across the country and also to those living abroad. Indian Consulate is located in the heart of downtown at 455 North City front Plaza Drive, Suite No.850, NBC Tower Building, Chicago, IL.

The Honorable Consul General saluted the Indian Flag to respect and honor the Indian Flag, followed by singing of Indian National Anthem. He also recited the speech given by honorable President of India, Pranab Kumar Mukherji on the eve of Republic day on 25th January, 2014 in India. While addressing the countrymen, the President also notably recognized the contribution of the Indians living abroad. He covered every aspect of India and Indians who are actively engaged in the progress of the country, their achievements, their gains and shortcomings. Concluding the reading of the President’s address, the Consul General thanked all the attendees for participating in the Republic Day celebration.

Indian Consulate in Chicago kept up its tradition of celebrating the Indian Republic Day with lot of enthusiasm. Hyderabad Association Executive Committee Members Hamid M. Ali, Vice President, S. K. Faheem, Vice President, Shahid Razvi, General Secretary, Khuja M. Akif treasurer attend the event and also Chicago land elite, businessmen and community members attending the 65th Republic Day of India at Indian Consulate General office in Chicago Downtown.
